charm: may suggest magic and implies a power to evoke or attract admiration: ~ by the beauty of that serene isle.


captivate: implies an often transitory capturing of the fancy or feelings: her grace and beauty ~ us all.


fascinate: suggests a magical influence and tends to stress the ineffectiveness of the attempts to resist or escape: a story that continued to ~children.
